In 1963 Independence Federal Credit Union was chartered by the Independence Postal Workers to serve any Federal employee that worked in Independence. Over the years we have extended the membership to include the following: Civilian employees and military personnel who work at or are attached to the Lake City Ammunition plant, members of Sugar Creek Memorial VFW Post #3976, members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fraas-Fain Post 1000, members of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 1000, employees of Truman Library, military personnel of the U.S. government stationed at recruiting offices in Independence, Missouri, and employees of the Philatelic Center, and members of the immediate families, and organizations of such persons.
