For over 30 years, the Village of Brookfield was without a bank. In 1962 a group of ten businessmen founded the First National Bank of Brookfield, located in the Grand Boulevard business district. The bank was established during a period of rapid growth in Brookfield when the local population doubled. The First National Bank of Brookfield experienced great success during the first five years, growing to $5 million dollars in assets by the end of 1967.
First National Bank of Brookfield became part of a one bank holding company, 1st Brookfield Inc., founded by Robert E. Hennebry in 1969.
In 1972, the First National Bank of Brookfield with assets of $11 million moved its headquarters to the current location at 9136 Washington Avenue on Memorial Circle in the Eight Corners business district.
In 1982 with assets of $25 million, Jan L. Schultz became the president of First National Bank of Brookfield. He sparked remarkable growth, quadrupling the bank’s size by 1996. The First National Bank of Brookfield had surpassed $100 million in assets.
In 1997 the current headquarters of the bank began an ambitious transformation and a construction project was begun and scheduled to last a year doubling the banks size. This would enable the First National Bank of Brookfield to add additional services to our customers such as Investment and Trust Services.
