Established in 1872 in Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania, Mifflinburg Bank was founded at a time when the town was heavily involved in the manufacturing of buggies. The booming business of the town and its location along one of the main arteries to the West provided residents good economic times and ample cash and investment opportunities that became the source of deposits for Mifflinburg Bank.

The bank was granted trust powers in 1925 allowing us to offer additional financial services to our customers and lengthening our name to Mifflinburg Bank & Trust Company. In 1930, the Farmers Bank merged with the Mifflinburg Bank & Trust Company and in 1941, the bank acquired the assets of the Laurelton State Bank.

In 1991, under President Helen Strunk (the first female president of the Pennsylvania Bankers Association), Mifflinburg Bank & Trust opened a branch in Lewisburg. After several years of discussion, planning and then building, the bank opened its new Retail Office and Lending Center at 250 East Chestnut Street in Mifflinburg. The office was specifically designed to take the bank into the 21st century to meet the ever-changing needs of the community it serves.

A new office was constructed in Millheim, Centre County, in 2003. The bank also formed Milestone Insurance Services, LLC, becoming licensed to sell title insurance. Committed to superior customer service, Milestone Investment Services was created to partner with Lincoln Investment Planning, Inc, expanding the bank’s ability to offer customers additional choices of investment products and services. We entered Snyder County in 2007, leasing an office in Hummels Wharf while also opening a small office in New Berlin, broadening our market area and offering added convenience for existing customers.

In 2008 the purchase of John Wilcox Lanes helped the bank expand operations and plan for future growth. Also purchased in 2008 was a bank building in Shamokin Dam. The Hummels Wharf office was permanently closed on December 31, 2009, and the Shamokin Dam office opened its doors for business on January 4, 2010. Realizing the potential for further customer growth, a second Lewisburg location was opened on Market Street in April 2013. A seventh branch was opened in Selinsgrove in 2018 to better serve our customers in the Snyder County area. The bank continues to grow and expand its reach with an eighth branch built at 415 Mahoning Street in Milton. This branch opened its doors for business in February of 2021.

Financial management will continue to change by way of technology, new and enhanced products, and rules and regulations. Mifflinburg Bank & Trust will stay in the forefront by offering the latest financial products and services as well as supporting nonprofit organizations and local governments financially and with personal employee involvement for the benefit of our communities.
