Fox Valley Credit Union was founded in 1937 as an employer group or single sponsor for employees of the old Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad which is now Burlington Northern-Santa Fe. FVCU converted the single sponsor credit union to a community charter in 2008 which enabled persons who work or live in Aurora to join.

FVCU converted the single sponsor credit union to a community charter in 2008 which enabled persons who work or live in Aurora to join. Family members can join as well even if the family lives outside of the Aurora area. Family is defined as: mother, father, brother, sister, children.

In addition, Select Employer Groups from this area may join the credit union. This means an employer allows anyone who works for the company to join the credit union no matter where the member lives.
