As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, we return earnings to our members in the form of higher dividends, lower loan rates and a full range of products and services and The Dillon Federal Credit Union was organized December 7, 1961. Russell Stewart, Board member and Treasurer, was assigned Account Number 1 along with Anna Jeanne and their children account toward the first 54 members that had joined by the first annual meeting on January 14, 1962. William Hansell, Managing Director of the Montana Credit Union's League, was the speaker at the First Annual Meeting and stated that in his Credit Union experience he did not remember a Credit Union growing to over fifty members and reaching $6, 100 in shares in just five weeks of existence.
Charles Ille was the first President of the Credit Union and was honored with membership on the Founders Club, an organization of people responsible for organizing and establishing Credit Unions.
