Texan Bank originally received its Federal Thrift Bank Charter as the Sugar Land, Texas, based “Bank of Fort Bend” in December 2007. The bank was purchased on March 30, 2011, by its current owner, Friendswood Capital Corporation, an investor-owned Bank Holding Company. The bank was renamed “Texan Bank” in July 2011

The bank was purchased on March 30, 2011, by its current owner, Friendswood Capital Corporation, an investor-owned Bank Holding Company. The bank was renamed “Texan Bank” in July 2011, and currently has five full-service bank locations. The bank opened its second location in Friendswood in October 2011. The Clear Lake bank location opened in August 2012. The banks fourth bank location is on the Gulf Freeway in Houston, and opened in October 2014, and in February, 2020, the River Oaks branch opened. To better reflect its strategic and market focus, Texan Bank moved its domicile from Sugar Land to Houston in January 2015.
