Canals & Trails Credit Union was established in 1959 as Lockport Schools Credit Union. As the community of Lockport grew and the population expanded, Lockport Schools Credit Union changed its name to Tri-Township Schools Federal Credit Union. In addition to serving school districts in Lockport, Romeoville, Bolingbrook, Crest Hill, Homer Glen, Mokena, New Lenox, Orland Park, Lemont and Plainfield, the credit union also serves many local businesses and government groups.
In 2002, our credit union underwent a major change in our field membership. In order to grow and thrive in the future, we converted from a federal charter, to a state charter, and eventually we obtained a community charter. In an era of financial institution’s mergers, Canals & Trails Credit Union is committed to remaining an independent financial institution that provides high quality service to our members.
