Beacon Community Credit Union was chartered in 1947 to serve the employees of the Naval Ordnance Station in Louisville, Kentucky and was originally named Louisville Naval Ordnance Plant Employees Credit Union.
With the closure of the Naval Ordnance Plant in 1995, we had to branch out to remain a thriving credit union. We built a new main office on National Turnpike and began to open our field of membership to other businesses in the area. In 2004, we changed our charter from a select employee group (SEG) based credit union, to a community credit union. With the new charter we are able to serve anyone who lives, works or worships in Jefferson County, including the KIPDA, Bluegrass, Lincoln Trail and Northern Kentucky Development Districts, as well as, Clark and Floyd Counties in Southern Indiana. What started as a savings and loan credit union, now offers a full range of financial products and services to meet the needs of our members. From our free Classic Checking account, to retirement accounts, to automobile, personal and mortgage loans. It is the desire of the Board of Directors and staff to serve our members with top quality financial products and service.
