Health Care Credit Union was incorporated in 1960 as the Mercy Hospital Credit Union. That common bond has grown over the years to include all workers in any area of health care or related fields that live in or work in Winnebago County, Wisconsin. In addition, HCCU serves the employees of Sacred Heart/St. Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, as well as a number of select employer groups. With additions and changes throughout the years, however, HCCU continues as a “closed charter” credit union in that only health care workers, related employee groups, and their families are eligible for membership.
When incorporated in 1960, then Mercy Hospital Credit Union, operated out of a small office located within Mercy Hospital. As the credit Union grew, it expanded to an outside office at 401A Otter Avenue. In 1983, when that building was sold, HCCU moved its Main Office to 600 South Main Street in Oshkosh. In November, 2000, HCCU expanded services again by opening an additional facility at 2700 West 9th Avenue in Oshkosh (The Mercy Medical Center Oakwood Building).
