The bank was opened in 1963 with the name First National Bank of Turley, by a group of investors that included John Smith. Mr. Smith saw the need in the community to have a local bank & 50 years later, the Smith family continues to serve the local community. In 1991, the bank became a state charter bank & changed its name to First Bank of Turley.

Mr. Smith saw the need in the community to have a local bank and almost fifty years later, the Smith family continues to serve the local community. In 1991, the bank became a state charter bank and changed its name to First Bank of Turley. The Bank decided to seek opportunities in other communities that could use a locally owned and operated bank so the name was changed to Freedom Bank of Oklahoma in 2004.
