On April 24, 1961, Security State Bank of Scott City opened its doors to the public with capital and surplus of $150 thousand dollars. Today the bank’s total assets are over $300 million dollars with total capital in excess of $44 million dollars.

The Farmers Credit Union was founded in 1953. The first location was an office located in the Farmers Co-op Building. The original capital was obtained by proceeds from a bake sale. Anyone who is a resident of Ellis County or adjoining counties is eligible to be a member of the Farmers Credit Union.
