Marshfield Medical Center Credit Union was chartered in 1965 under laws of the State of Wisconsin by employees of St. Joseph’s Hospital. Until 1985 the credit union operated from office space in the hospital. That year we relocated to our own facility. Since then we have added numerous services and enjoyed exceptional growth.

Formed in May of 1959, the credit union was originally known as “Athens CO-OP Credit Union.” The first board meeting was held June 30, 1959, at the Athens Community Hall. There were 23 members. As a part of the Athens CO-OP, the credit union was established to grant loans to aid the local community with their farm supplies and equipment purchases.

Sentry Credit Union was founded in Stevens Point (WI) back in 1935 by Sentry Employees. In 1935, Sentry Insurance was named Hardware Mutual Casualty Company and SCU was named Hardware Mutual Casualty Credit Union. The Credit Union was incorporated as a cooperative, non-profit organization owned and managed by the Members.
