The Credit Union was chartered in 1951 under the provisions of the Federal Credit Union Act, Public Law 467, 73d Congress 1st Session, entitled, “ An Act to establish a Federal Credit Union System, to establish further market for securities of the United States and to make available to people of small means credit for provident purposes.

Founded in 1904, the Bank of Zachary is the oldest chartered bank in East Baton Rouge Parish with a rich history of superior service to its customers. The main office of the Bank of Zachary has always been on Main Street, though in three different locations. The original office of the Bank, is a half-block west of the Lee Street intersection.

Our credit union was originally chartered as Cee Zee Employees Federal Credit Union in 1960, serving the employees of the paper mill in West Feliciana Parish and their families. The paper mill has had five different name changes. The names of the paper mill have been Crown Zellerbach, James River, Crown Vantage, TEMBEC and currently KPAQ.
