A half-century ago, in 1956, Ward County Credit Union was founded in Monahans, Texas by a group of teachers and operated out of a class room during the school year and the volunteer manager’s kitchen table during the summer. The member deposits were then and are now used to make loans that benefit the members and the families we serve.

The charter of the Pecos County State Bank was dated March 22, 1928. The bank opened for business on July 3, 1928, in the old First State Bank building located on the corner of First and Main in Fort Stockton, Texas. Opening Capital was $25,000.00 with a surplus of $6,250.00. The first officers were J.M. Montgomery,

Heritage USA Federal Credit Union (HUSA) began as Permian Telco Federal Credit Union in 1949 serving Southwestern Bell employees. During the next 53 years Permian Telco allowed Select Employer Groups (SEGs) into HUSA’s field of membership and eligible members had to work for one of the Select Employers to become a credit union member.

A small group of co-workers for the Atlantic Refining Company (ARCO) joined together to finance this loan so that he could purchase his home.
